Trusted counsel for the company you built

Pemberton Row Advisors guides the owners of private businesses through sales, acquisitions, and new funding. Our bankers take on few clients at a time, so each is known well and served in person.

Known by name, not by file number

Pemberton Row was founded on a simple idea: owners of private companies deserve the quality of advice that large corporations take for granted, from people who will still answer their calls after the deal is done.

We advise on company sales, partial sales, acquisitions, and the raising of equity and debt. Most of our clients are founders and families, and many are making a decision of this kind for the first time.

Five stages to closing

Each assignment follows the same five stages. Scroll through them and the picture changes with you.

  1. Two colleagues in conversation in a bright officeStage 1

    Introduction

A private conversation about the company, your hopes for it, and your timetable. We ask plenty of questions before offering any opinion.

  2. Printed financial statements and a cup of coffee on a deskStage 2

    Valuation

We study the numbers, the market, and the likely buyers or investors, and give you a candid range of value.

  3. A team working through documents together at a tableStage 3

    Preparation

Our team readies the numbers, the offering document, and a secure online data room, so the company can stand up to close inspection.

  4. A long boardroom table with a meeting under wayStage 4

    Negotiation

A short list of well-chosen parties is approached, offers are gathered, and we bargain until the price and terms do the company justice.

  5. A hand signing a document on a clipboardStage 5

    Closing

We coordinate diligence and documents with your lawyers and accountants, and stay involved until the transaction is complete.

Before you call us

Who do you typically advise?

Founders, families, and leadership teams of well-established private firms, plus the companies and funds hoping to buy them.

Is it worth talking to you if a sale is years away?

Yes. The years before a transaction are when value is built. We can help you see which changes would matter most to a future buyer or investor, and in what order to make them.

Can you help us raise money instead of selling?

Quite often that turns out to be the wiser course. Because we arrange investment and loans as well as sales, we can lay both routes out for you before you decide.

How do you keep things confidential?

A confidentiality agreement is signed before you share anything, and no detail about your company goes to a buyer or investor unless you say so.

What does an initial meeting cost?

Nothing. A first conversation is free and carries no obligation of any kind.
